Recreation can play a pivotal role in the mental health recovery process and is important for the maintenance of individual mental wellness. Because of the connections between recreation, mental wellness and social equity, equitable access to recreation is an effective leverage point for increasing wellness and social equity overall.

This training provides a toolkit to recreation managers, program coordinators or supervisors – anyone responsible for developing recreation policies and practices. All people coming in contact with recreation participants (including front desk and communications staff, fitness instructors and coaches, volunteers or students, etc) can contribute to creating a more welcoming environment.
