We’re excited to announce the dates for Recreation Nova Scotia’s Annual Conference! Join us October 14-15 at the Best Western Truro – Glengarry as we bring the recreation community together once again.
As always, the conference includes our AGM, along with our award ceremony celebrating outstanding contributions across the sector. Be sure to nominate the recreation professionals in your community who deserve recognition! More details are on the way. We can’t wait to share what’s in store, stay tuned!
This year’s theme, Waves of Impact: Elevating the Value of Recreation in Nova Scotia, reflects the evolving landscape of the recreation sector and the growing need to champion the essential role recreation plays in our communities.
As recreation professionals continue to navigate change and respond to emerging challenges and opportunities, it is more important than ever to recognize, demonstrate, and communicate the profound impact recreation has on the health, well-being, and connectedness of individuals and communities across Nova Scotia.

Call for Conference Photographer
Recreation Nova Scotia is seeking a photographer to capture the energy, learning, and connections at our 2026 Annual Conference, Waves of Impact: Elevating the Power of Recreation in Nova Scotia.
We're looking for someone with a creative eye who can document the day's events through high-quality, engaging images that showcase the people, experiences, and impact of recreation in Nova Scotia.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: September 28, 2026.
Event Details:
Date: Wednesday, October 14, 2026
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. (with breaks)
Location: Best Western Glengarry, Truro, Nova Scotia
What We're Looking For:
The successful photographer will capture a variety of moments throughout the conference, including:
- Opening remarks and keynote presentations
- Educational sessions and workshops
- Networking and social interactions
- Exhibitors and sponsors
- Awards and recognition moments
- Candid photos of attendees throughout the day
- General conference atmosphere and venue
Photography will be used in Recreation Nova Scotia's communications, including social media, our website, annual report, promotional materials, and future conference marketing.
Who Should Apply:
Professional photography experience is not required. We welcome applications from professional photographers, emerging photographers, students, and passionate hobbyists.
Applicants are asked to submit:
- A portfolio or examples of previous photography work
- A brief introduction about yourself and your photography experience
Honorarium: The selected photographer will receive an honorarium of $750 for the full day of coverage.

Recreation Nova Scotia Awards
The annual RNS Awards pay tribute to exceptional individuals, organizations, and communities that, through their programs, events, projects, and passion, have made outstanding contributions to building healthier communities and enhancing the quality of life for Nova Scotians through recreation.
The RNS Awards Ceremony & Banquet will be held at the Glengarry Best Western from 6:00pm - 8:00pm on Wedneday, October 14, 2026. Tickets to the ceremony & banquet are available as a seperate ticketed item within registeration with PlayFinder.ca.
Accommodations
A special conference group rate is available for attendees at the Best Western Glengarry from October 13–14. Rooms are offered at $165 per night and include a complimentary breakfast.
