Our whole world has changed. Our challenges too. Therefore, we are replacing September’s Canadian Outdoor Summit by a big virtual meeting on the same dates. This event will be focused on finding, sharing and coordinating actions for our sector. More information will follow.

Hence, please note that the Canadian Outdoor Summit is postponed to September of 2021.
Save the dates. We will now host Advanced camps the first Friday of every month for us to gather and move forward. The first Advanced Camp meeting will be Friday June 5th 2020 at 1:00PM Eastern.

Measuring What Matters

Tuesday, October 20, 2020 2:00 PM (AST)

Presenters: Brian Johnston and Meaghan Carey, RC Strategies

There is an old adage in management circles – you can’t manage what you don’t measure. This workshop challenges parks and recreation practitioners throughout Atlantic Canada to consider what the real benefits of recreation are, and how those benefits could be measured. The need to shift the what and how we measure will be explored, considering how transitioning from a focus on measuring outputs to a new paradigm of measuring outcomes could lead to greater accountability. The discussion builds on the previously outlined Rationale for the Delivery of Public Leisure Services (in workshop #1) and Drivers of Change (in workshop #2), and is consistent with the fundamentals discussed within the Fees and Charges workshop.
