Park Leaders Development Program
Fall 2018 Theme: PARKANOMICS and Leadership
The Canadian Parks Council is excited to launch the Canadian Parks Collective for Innovation and Leadership (CPCIL) and invites emerging park leaders from the entire continuum of parks and protected areas to participate in the CPCIL’s 2018 Park Leaders Development Program.
Built upon ten years of parks systems leadership training, this eight-month online and in-person collaborative program hones core leadership skills by exploring specific issues facing parks and protected areas and applying them to real-world challenges. The program also aims to build a pan-Canadian network of Park Leaders who can support each other—and their organization—long after the program concludes.
The Fall 2018 program “PARKANOMICS and Leadership” will tackle economic sustainability and the value of parks, as well as core themes such as leading change, integrating diverse sources of knowledge, and leadership communication. Tasks and projects are designed to complement participants’ professional work while supporting personal development.
The online program runs from mid-September, 2018 to April 2019. The face-to-face residency runs November 13-18 in Canmore, Alberta.
